Club Statement: Chairman Resigns

Paul Taylor has resigned as chairman of Whickham FC with immediate effect.

Paul, who replaced Brian McCartney three years ago, is stepping down to focus on work and personal commitments.

He said: “It’s with regret that I have decided to resign as the chairman of Whickham FC. This is down to a combination of my personal situation and also a need to focus on my business.

“This isn’t a decision I have taken lightly. I have been proud to be chairman of the club for the last three years and work alongside some fantastic, committed people.

“Seeing the club promoted into Division One for the first time in more than 20 years is something that will stay with me.

“I would like to thank the committee, players and management for their support and wish the club all the best for the rest of the season, and beyond.

“This has the potential to be an exciting period in Whickham’s history and I will remain a big supporter of the club as they strive for success on and off the pitch.”

The club would like to thank Paul for his leadership and commitment and he is always welcome back at the Glebe.

An announcement on the position of chairman will be made in due course.
