Conor signs new contract

Conor Newton has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract to extend his stay at Whickham FC.

Conor, who joined the club in the summer of 2019, has signed a 12-month extension to his deal.

The experienced midfielder, who came through Newcastle United’s youth academy, was in fine form last season before the campaign was ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 26-year-old, who won the Scottish League Cup with St Mirren and who can also count Rotherham, Cambridge and Hartlepool among his former clubs, is the first of Mark Convery’s squad to commit to the 2021/22 season.

The Glebe manager said: “I’m delighted Conor has signed a new contract. He’s an integral part of our midfield and showed his class last season.”
