Whickham v Ryhope match preview

Whickham welcome seventh-placed Sunderland Ryhope CW to The First Mortgage Glebe after picking up their first Northern League Division One three points since August last time out, writes Adam Tones.

Mark Convery’s side earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over struggling West Allotment Celtic last weekend, before Tuesday night’s scheduled home clash against Guisborough was postponed.

The Lang Jacks kick off at 3pm on Saturday 9th October hoping to use home advantage, but won’t underestimate Ryhope who have one win in their last seven outings.

Whickham will need to be wary of Ryhope striker James Ellis who is the league’s second top goalscorer after scoring six goals in as many games.

Captain Ross Peareth will miss the game after his sending off against West Allotment Celtic, manager Mark Convery otherwise has a fully strength team to choose from.

It should be another evenly-matched contest with Ryhope sitting only four points ahead of Whickham in the league.

However after a renewed confidence boost and a midweek rest Whickham will be hoping to send their supporter’s home with back to back victories for the first time since August.

Tickets are available at the gate on matchday. 3pmko. Adults £6; concessions £3.
