Whickham FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Tony Fawcett as our new first team manager.
Tony, 42, has previously managed Ryton and worked as joint manager with Whitley Bay. He takes over with immediate effect.
Chairman Ben Riley said: “The committee and I are delighted to announce and welcome Tony and his coaching staff to the Glebe.
“We had many excellent candidates to choose from but Tony stood out to us and has shown a real desire for the job.
“I would also like to place on record my thanks to Mark Convery and Steve Bowey for their time at the club and wish them every success in their careers. They are always welcome at the Glebe.”
Fawcett will bring Simon Moody (assistant manager), Wayne Buchanan (coach) and Chris Bannon (goalkeeper coach) in as his backroom staff.
Tony said: “I am delighted to take on the manager’s role at Whickham. After having talks with the club I thought it was too good an opportunity to turn down. The board really excited me with their plans and I feel my enthusiasm and passions matches that of theirs.
“I am looking forward to working with them and with the local community.”
We’ll have more from Tony over the weekend, including a full interview on his plans for the club.
