Whickham are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Bolton from Gateshead.
The defender joins the Lang Jacks after manager Tony Fawcett moved to bolster the competition in his Whickham squad.
Bolton, 19, has joined the club after a successful spell first with Gateshead’s academy, and then having signed a professional contract at Gateshead which was cancelled this week by mutual consent to allow him to move to the First Mortgage Glebe.
Ryan didn’t make a first team appearance for Gateshead but enjoyed a successful loan spell at Shildon AFC earlier this season, and also gained Northern League experience with West Allotment Celtic last year.
Whickham boss Tony Fawcett said: “It’s really pleasing to get Ryan signed.
“We have been looking for a right-sided defender to provide competition to the squad.
“I feel Ryan’s footballing ability will help him slot straight in with our lads.”
Bolton will be in contention to make his Whickham debut on Friday night when we travel to Consett for a Northern League Division One fixture.
