After fighting back from behind at the weekend to gain a point against Thornaby, The Lang Jacks now turn their attention to their next game, with West Auckland Town the visitors to the Glebe on Tuesday evening in the First Division Cup.
Once again, while manager Tony Fawcett will be happy with the fight and resolve shown by the boys to keep going into the last minutes of the game, there is natural disappointment that they didn’t pick up all three points, and will be looking to correct that under the lights by progressing through to the next round.
With West Auckland just above Whickham in the table, this tie represents a close match up on paper that both sides will be confident of winning, as both teams and managers look to use the cup as a chance to get into good form ahead of the run in to the league season. There is also always the option for some squad rotation, which can be beneficial to raise competition for places.
Speaking of cup football, Whickham lynchpin Kieran Galbraith spoke of his desire to win silverware with the Lang Jacks in an interview with Adam Tones, adding even more motivation for him to do well in the tournament.
Get yourselves down to the Glebe this evening and support the boys as they look to carry on their cup run!
