After a heartbreaking loss in the cup on Tuesday evening, the Lang Jacks look to bounce back immediately on the road against Ryhope CW on Saturday afternoon.
After being down to 10 men for the majority of the game on Tuesday, the lads once again showed their resolve and great attitude to fight back from 2-0 down and almost take the game to a penalty shootout, while dominating periods of the game as well.
The game this weekend is again another one that involves a team close to Whickham in the table, with Ryhope sitting in sixth place, while Whickham occupy ninth spot and looking to improve on it before the season is over.
With not many games left in the season, the lads will be needing to maximise every opportunity that is made available to them, something that manager Tony Fawcett will no doubt be emphasising to the boys ahead of the game.
Defender Kieran Galbraith was a late withdrawal from the team in midweek due to injury. Hopefully he recovers in time and is able to resume his spot at the back and continue leading by example. The defence will have a tough task this weekend, as they attempt to keep the league’s second top goalscorer in James Ellis quiet (21 for the season).
Follow the boys on Saturday afternoon as they look to claim another victory and move up the league table!
