Penrith v Whickham: Lang Jacks face away test to Penrith

After securing a draw at the weekend against 2nd placed North Shields, Whickham face another away day on Wednesday evening against a Penrith side who are languishing towards the bottom of the table.

Wednesday evening’s hosts are 18th in the table, but are coming off a dramatic 4-3 win at the weekend over Billingham Town, so they will be looking to carry their confidence over to tomorrow’s meeting with the Lang Jacks, who sit 8th in the division.

Whickham have a couple of games in hand over 7th placed Ashington, and a win on the road on Wednesday evening would see them cut the gap to 4 points, with a further game in hand. As the season starts to draw to a close, every result becomes more and more important.

Jamie Dunn is still suspended for this tie, the defender serving the second game of a three match ban following his red card in the cup a few matches ago. Furthermore, midfield maestro Kaleb Young is a major doubt for tomorrow’s game through injury, which might mean young Declan Bisset gets another chance to shine in midfield.

The front three are on fire in recent weeks, and manager Tony Fawcett will be hoping that they can continue their brilliant partnership to fire the Lang Jacks up the table before the season is out.

Come and support the lads if you can as they strive for a late season push up the league!
