Whickham booked their place in the FA Vase Second Qualifying round after a comfortable 4-0 victory over Jarrow in the Perth Green sunshine.
After an uneventful first half in which both teams created very little, Whickham dominated the majority of the second half and deservedly came out on top after a well-organised display.
Scott Robson scored a brace with his first coming after just two minutes, while fellow strikers Stephen Hall and Mitchell Ramsay notched late on to seal the victory.
The visitors took the lead within the first couple of minutes after Shay Richardson floated a ball over the Jarrow defence for Robson to latch onto and head past Jarrow goalkeeper James Lone.
Richardson again was in the midst of the action this time drilling a through ball to George Priest who delivered an inch-perfect cross, but Robson’s header failed to trouble the goalkeeper.
Richardson created an opportunity for himself five minutes before halftime after collecting the ball out on the left but his curling effort from 20 yards was comfortably gathered by Lone.
After a close first half with only one goal separating the two teams, the second half started in a similar nervy fashion.
Stephen Hall created the first opportunity of the second half after cutting in from the right, but his attempt was off target.
Whickham should have doubled their lead with 20 minutes remaining, substitute Ramsay was unmarked 12 yards out, but his speculative overhead kick sailed over Lone’s crossbar.
The visitors sealed victory four minutes from time through Stephen Hall.
The striker latched onto a through ball from Robson before coolly slotting under the advancing Lone to double Whickham’s lead.
The Lang Jacks weren’t finished, this time Ramsay netting his first of the season and Whickham’s third of the afternoon.
Right back Tom Howard found Ramsay in space from a throw-in and the striker made it look easy after gliding past three Jarrow defenders before thumping the ball past Lone.
Tony Fawcett’s Whickham team were clinical all afternoon and Scott Robson rounded off a comfortable victory in added time.
Robson dinked the ball over Lone and tapped into an empty net following a perfectly timed ball over the Jarrow defence.
