Whickham 0-5 Newton Aycliffe
Whickham slumped to their biggest defeat of the season against Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday night.
The 5-0 rout started in the first half with goals from Marc Costello and Joe Ferguson.
Jake Petitjean and Ben Reay got on the scoresheet in the second half with Ferguson also getting his second.
The defeat sees the Lang Jacks drop to 10th, albeit with games in hand on others around them.
After a quiet first 20 minutes with the rain beginning to pour down, Marc Costello opened the scoring with a header from Joe Ferguson’s corner.
On the stroke of halftime Ferguson found space in the penalty area and unleashed a powerful strike into the bottom right corner.
The third came 20 minutes from time as Jake Petitjean turned in a cross from close range.
Ferguson doubled his tally for evening shortly after when he turned in a loose ball from 6 yards.
The game was wrapped up by Ben Reay with three minutes left on the clock as he slid in to meet Callum Munro’s cross at the back post.
