Stalemate at Seaham

Whickham played out a goalless draw on the Durham coast against Seaham Red Star on Saturday.

There were few chances for either team in what was a high tempo encounter.

A point sees Whickham sit 11th in the division but with games in hand on those above.

The game started with very few chances for either side but was played to a high intensity with no half-hearted challenges.

It wasn’t until 20 minutes in that there was a clear sight of goal as Joe Hailes found Morgan dart 10 yards out but his shot was blazed over Nathan Harker’s goal.

Just after the break, Whickham saw their best chance of the game as Tom Howard slipped through Garon Garside who was one-on-one from an angle, but his shot was saved by the legs of Andrew Jennison.

On the hour mark Jack Moody had to come off with a head injury after a clash with James Robinson. Nathan Greenwood had earlier come off in the first half with a muscular injury as well.

The last 10 minutes saw the game grow in intensity with both teams pushing for a winner.

Two minutes from time Kieran Galbraith valiantly managed to recover to catch Mark Robinson who was through on goal and poke the ball back to Harker.
