We are delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Kendrick as the club’s Head of Football Operations.
The former Newcastle United and Republic of Ireland youth player joins in a role to provide support to the football team and the committee.
Kendrick made 356 senior appearances across an array of clubs – playing for Darlington, Drogheda United and Mansfield Town along the way.
In addition he has extensive non-league experience managing Prudhoe Town and Ryton & Crawcrook Albion most recently.
Joe Kendrick: “I’m delighted to join Whickham FC. I have been impressed with some of the short and long-term plans the club has and I want to support the committee in realising their vision.
“I will be looking at all football areas within the club from juniors up to the seniors, supporting the coaches and managers as the club continues to grow. I’m excited to get started.”
Club Chairman Ross Gregory: “I’m delighted to welcome Joe to the club. Having chatted at length with him about what we are trying to achieve, I think this is a really good fit.
“Joe has a lot of experience at different levels of the game which he will bring to Whickham. His job outside of football has taken him away from management but he still has a lot to offer and I’m pleased he has come on board.
“We are evolving and growing as a club. Over the last 18 months we have expanded our junior section by 200%, introduced an U23s team, ran holiday camps and become a lot more community focused.
“There are further exciting plans in the pipeline and Joe’s arrival will help free myself and other committee members up to focus more on delivering the off-field projects.”
