Nathan Harker departs

Nathan Harker has joined Marske United on a permanent deal.

Harker joined from Bedlington Terriers in June 2022 and has made 36 appearances since.

The former Newcastle Academy man has contributed a big part to The Lang Jacks being the joint-second best defence in the league this season.

Club chairman Ross Gregory said: “I’m gutted to see Nathan leave us but it’s a great deal for both the club and the player.

“Nathan is one of the best young goalkeepers in non-league and we had hoped to build a successful team around him.

“This is the price of success though – we have a great track record of developing young players and while we hope they will stay with us to help Whickham achieve our long-term ambitions of progressing but we have always said that we will never stand in the way of a player who wants to play at a higher level, as long as the deal is also right for Whickham FC.

“Nathan goes with our best wishes and will always be welcome back at the First Mortgage Glebe.

“Marske United have been ultra professional in their dealings and I’d also like to thank chairman Mark Harkin and manager Carl Jarrett for the way they have conducted their business.”
