Whickham 0-0 Whitley Bay
Whickham and Whitley Bay played out a 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening in which neither side particularly threatened.
A point apiece keeps both sides in sixth and fourth respectively with just three fixtures left this season.
The only chance of real substance in the first half was for the visitors as Ben Richardson fed Elliot Day down the left who cut past Tom Howard and shot, but it cannoned just over the bar.
On the other side of half-time Whitley Bay went close again, this time from a corner as Richardson delivered and Mark Davison met the delivery and headed it narrowly wide of the post.
The Lang Jacks could have stolen all three points in the last minute as Garon Garside carried the ball forwards, shrugging everyone off in his path, and released Scott Robson who rounded Dan Lister but his shot hit the side netting from a narrow angle.
Whickham XI: Seymour, Howard, Dunn, Nelson, Garside, Yoxall, Richardson, Peareth (Smith 70’), Robson, Romano (Patton 56’), Turner.
Unused sub(s): Agnew, Knox.
