Lang Jacks Sweep Aside Northallerton

Whickham 3-0 Northallerton Town

Whickham secured their second win against Northallerton Town in the space of three weeks on Monday evening after a 3-0 win at The First Mortgage Glebe.

A Jordan Lavery penalty in the first half gave the Lang Jacks a narrow lead at the break.

Two late second-half goals from Sam Johnson and Eddie Thomas secured the three points.

The three points made it 12 from a possible 15 in the last five matches as the good end of season form continued.

The encounter started slowly with both teams having few chances and an equal share of the ball in the early stages.

Johnson and Eliott had efforts saved early on before the visitors went through on goal on the half hour mark but Neal Bussey denied a tame effort from Banks.

It was Johnson again posing a threat 10 minutes later as he latched onto a Shay Richardson pass in behind and his shot was deflected and looped just over.

On the stroke of half-time Nathan Stephenson was pulled to ground by Moan as a corner was taken and the referee pointed to the spot.

Jordan Lavery stepped up and fired powerfully into the bottom left corner to get his second career goal in black and white.

Shortly after the break Johnson had another shot deflected which looped and Dickinson had to tip it over the bar.

The lead was doubled late into the 90 as substitute Terry Glabraith floated a free-kick into the area which Eddie Thomas guided into the path of Sam Johnson who placed his header perfectly into the bottom corner.

The three points were sealed minutes later as Jack Elliott beat his man and reached the byline before crossing into the goalmouth, where Johnson volleyed straight at Dickinson but Thomas was on hand to scramble the rebound in from off the floor.
