Whickham were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Northallerton Town at The Glebe on Saturday afternoon, with the Lang Jacks finishing the game with 10-men.
The away side took the lead through James Harwood in the 29th minute before James Coatsworth added a second, eight minutes after the restart.
Lang Jack’s goalkeeper Mark Foden, was dismissed in the 86th minute by the referee.
Whickham Manager Tony Fawcett and Finn Davies missed the game due to suspension.
First Half
The Lang Jacks started brightly, with Dan Marriott drawing two fouls inside the first five minutes.
Mason Hardy saw an effort from the edge of the box fire wide in the sixth minute.
Nathan Stephenson then fired an effort from the edge of the area just wide.
Hardy then went down in the area before the ball struck a Northallerton player’s hand, but the referee wasn’t interested in either appeal.
James Harwood gave the visitors the lead in the 29th minute following a corner routine.
Hardy’s free kick from a distance on the right forced Max Campbell into a great save.
Sam Hodgson was pulled down by his neck on the halfway line when he was breaking forward, with the referee brandishing a yellow card to Terry Galbraith for the foul.
Half Time: Whickham 0-1 Northallerton Town
Hardy got in behind Galbraith following a slip, but his low cross was cut out.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Fin Neary was dispossessed in his own half. Foden couldn’t stop Coatsworth’s effort from outside the box, which arrowed into the top corner.
Campbell was forced into another save in the 76th minute when Kieran Aplin’s free kick had to be tipped over the bar.
Foden was then sent off with four minutes remaining for kicking the ball at a Northallerton player. Callum Munro played the remainder of the game in goal.
