Whickham FC Reserves are delighted to announce a new management team after Andrew Kingsland decided to step down at the end of the season.
Andy informed the club before the end of the campaign of his desire to step away from running the team for personal reasons. The club would like to place on record their thanks for his time, effort and commitment in developing a hugely successful team both at junior level and then moving them into seniors.
A new management team has been formed to lead the Reserves in the 2025/26 season. It will be led by Steven Anderson and Keith Armstrong as co-managers, supported by Freddie Armstrong as coach. Other appointments will be announced shortly.
Vice chair (football operations) Lynn Ready said: “We are delighted to announce the new management team. Both Keith and Steven impressed us when we spoke to them and we believe this setup is a great model for the team.
“As a football club, we are focused on developing young players but also young coaches too, so we are happy to give Freddie the opportunity to start his coaching career with us too and start work on his badges in a few months’ time.
“Finally, I’d like to thank Andy for his brilliant work with the team. He will go down in Whickham FC history as the first manager to lead a team in the FA Youth Cup and it was great to see six or seven of the squad appear for the first team last season too.”
The Reserves will continue to operate in the Northern Alliance next season. Pre-season dates and details will be announced soon.
