Whickham FC Announce Three New Signings

Whickham FC are delighted to confirm the signings of three new players ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Attacking full back Nathan Beesley is the first to join Tony Fawcett’s side ahead of next season.

Beesley previously played for Blyth Town where he racked up over 100 appearances, regularly contributing goals and assists from the back.

Experienced centre back Liam McNamara also joins the Lang Jacks ahead of the 25/26 season.

McNamara was a regular for Tow Law Town last season and has previously played for Newton Aycliffe, Newcastle Benfield and North Shields.

Whickham’s third signing of the summer is midfielder Ben Turnbull who joins from Wallington FC.

Turnbull made over 150 appearances for Wallington and was named Manager’s player of the season in 2024.

The midfielder follows his former manager Trevor Baston through the door at the First Mortgage Glebe after Baston left Wallington to become the Lang Jacks assistant manager.

Manager Tony Fawcett said: “I’m really pleased to get these lads on board.

“Liam brings a wealth of experience and is a leader both on the pitch and in the changing room; something we lacked last season.

“Ben is full of energy and brings that hunger to our midfield. He will be important in the style that we’d like to play.

“Nathan is perfect for our formation. He is agressive, fast, and i’m excited to get him in to our side.

“All three will fit in comfortably with our squad.”
