Bowey has been brought in as the assistant manager to Mark Convery, but is also on the books as a player. The midfielder was a former professional for a number of clubs.

During his time at York City, he played alongside Convery, and went on to have spells with Gateshead, Dunston UTS, Newcastle Benfield, Bedlington Terriers and Ashington in non-league.
